Kodak Donates Digital Production Color Press to Waukesha County Technical College
ROCHESTER, N.Y.—New Kodak digital printing and workflow solutions serve as the core of Waukesha County Technical Colleges’ (WCTC) recently constructed Applied Technology Center (ATC). The facility serves the needs of students through technical training, applied research and product testing.
Kodak donated the Kodak NEXPRESS 2100 Plus Digital Production Color Press with the Kodak Fifth Imaging Unit Solution, Kodak NEXGLOSSER Glossing Unit, Kodak PRINERGY Workflow Software and Kodak Web-to-print Solutions.
Waukesha County Technical College, located in Waukesha, Wisconsin, has more than 100 areas of study including printing and graphics. With eight “Centers of Excellence,” WCTC has a Printing Industry Cluster and focuses on workforce development.
“Providing our students with hands on experience with Kodak’s advanced digital print and workflow technologies will further help prepare them for job opportunities in the digitally driven printing industry,” said Dean Flowers, associate dean, Waukesha County Technical College. “Kodak’s generosity will allow us to provide students with a greater understanding of the many applications enabled by digital printing and the benefits of implementing a seamless workflow.”
The Kodak NEXPRESS 2100 Plus Digital Production Color Press meets a variety of needs extending to very high volume environments. Customers are able to upgrade presses as they grow their businesses with options to select desired paper capacity, increase processing capability, and add a fifth imaging unit for delivery of spot color, watermarking and protective coating with the GATF InterTech Award winning Kodak NEXPRESS Fifth Imaging Unit Solutions.
The fifth imaging unit solutions further expand the press’s available color gamut, enabling applications that require inline integration of specific PANTONE colors. The fifth imaging unit solutions also enable inline coating for applications requiring greater durability such as direct mail.
Adding a Kodak NEXGLOSSER Glossing Unit to the NEXPRESS 2100 Plus Press allows students to work with high impact glossing of photobooks, calendars, postcards, point of purchase displays and even offset printed materials. The NEXGLOSSER Glossing Unit features Kodak NEXPRESS Clear Dry Ink that delivers enhanced image quality and a laminate-like gloss for higher marketing impact.
“Kodak is pleased to help students further their education and honored to help mark the opening of the WCTC’s new Applied Technology Center,” said Steve Fullerton, director of trade relations, United States and Canada Region, Kodak’s Graphic Communications Group.
Students can learn about the recently introduced Kodak Web-to-print Solutions. Built on proven Kodak INSITE Software and Kodak PRINERGY Workflow Systems, Web-to-print Solutions provide connectivity to Kodak NEXPRESS Presses and additional third party print devices via Kodak’s Print-On-Demand Solutions CREO Color Servers. Connectivity eliminates the need to re-enter job ticket information on the press, improving turnaround time, reducing errors and saving money. Kodak Web-to-print Solutions include three components: a storefront that facilitates online ordering; a variable data print application; and workflow automation with connectivity to many digital printing devices.
Enhancing their knowledge of workflow, students can utilize Kodak PRINERGY Workflow Systems, which solve key business issues by streamlining production from original file to final printed job, improving productivity, resource allocation, and, ultimately, a user’s bottom line. PRINERGY Systems are modular, open and scaleable to meet specific market needs, including small or large commercial, publication, newspaper or packaging printing. PRINERGY Systems deliver intelligent automation, optimized production management, advanced STACCATO Screening and SPOTLESS Printing Solutions.
