IPA Announces 2007 Proofing RoundUP Details
Edina, MN—IPA, The Association of Graphic Solutions Providers, announced details for the 4th Annual IPA Proofing RoundUP, to be conducted as part of the 2007 IPA Technical Conference, June 5-7, 2007 in Rosemont, Ill. The 2007 Proofing RoundUP will test the abilities of both proofing equipment suppliers and their end-user customers to reveal the current state of the North American proofing market.
Since its inception in 2004, the IPA Proofing RoundUP has led to substantial improvements in the quality of proofing technologies and techniques. In 2006 the RoundUP proved that proofing technologies had reached new heights, with all participating suppliers proving their ability to proof “by the numbers,” with no visual reference or target.
This year IPA tests the proofing capabilities of our user community: the trade shops, the printers, the graphic solutions providers. IPA member participants will receive a $50 rebate on their Technical Conference registration fee.
In addition to testing the quality assurance of proofing systems and processes in the 2007 RoundUP, tests will be conducted involving soft proofing, remote hard copy proofing, multi-channel image processing, spot colors, and use of a JDF workflow in hard and soft copy proofing.
Dr. Abhay Sharma, RoundUP team leader, said, “This year’s IPA Proofing RoundUP will be very exciting. The RoundUP results will provide us the most up-to-date snapshot of proofing practices—insight that will guide the industry. The revolutionary results will impact end-users more than ever since they’re an integral part of the process this year. We expect a large number of entries from users in both the U. S. and Canada.”
A summary of the findings, which includes the systems software, hardware and compilation of the processes used to produce the proof, will be provided at the conference and in post-conference materials. More details are available at ipa.org http://www.ipa.org/roundup
