Huston Patterson Expands Large-format Press Capabilities
DECATUR, Ill.—Huston Patterson Corp., Decatur, Ill., has purchased two new KBA six-color and coat presses, which will substantially increase the company’s capacity to provide full-service, large-format printing. The new 56-inch, six-color, aqueous coat press will be located in Decatur, and the new 40-inch, six-color, UV or aqueous coat press will be at Sigma Graphics in Ottawa, Ill. The 40 inch press will be operational yet this year and the 56 inch within the first quarter of 2008.
“Clients tell us they truly like the idea of us having redundant capabilities within our equipment. This will improve the comfort level and back-up capabilities. We will have the capacity to expand the volume of work from our current and future clients,” said Huston Patterson President/CEO Thomas W. Kowa. Huston Patterson will have two 64- inch machines, two 56-inch machines and two 40-inch machines, all with in-line coating capabilities.
“We are expanding our opportunities to produce higher quantities and better qualities, while applying UV coating in-line on any size sheet when needed,” Kowa continued. “These presses offer the latest technology and come with every option available, including fully automated plate hangers. We have increased our flexibility for quicker turn times, less overtime and improved capabilities, which ultimately will hold costs down for clients.”
Kowa said placing the new 40-inch printer at Sigma Graphics will allow the company to deliver quicker package printing and outlive other 40-inch printer companies. “We are equipping our craftsmen with the best tools to achieve our mission to become the largest privately owned package printing company in North America,” he said.
