HP Opens California Distribution Facility
PALO ALTO, Calif.—HP has opened a distribution center in Hayward, Calif., which was scheduled to begin operations on Nov. 1. The new facility will serve HP Indigo customers in the western United States and western Canada.
“The new HP Indigo distribution center helps to improve the service we provide across western North America,” said Alon Bar-Shany, vice president and general manager, Indigo division, HP. “This distribution center offers state-of-the-art technology and will be a significant advantage to HP and our customers, by expediting our time-to-market and meeting our customers’ delivery expectations.”
This facility is the third HP Indigo distribution center in North America, complementing current facilities in Chicago and Toronto. Located in the northern California city of Hayward, which is known as the “Heart of the Bay,” the facility takes advantage of Hayward’s optimal combination of easy access to regional interstate transportation networks, major airports and sea ports.
“The City of Hayward is pleased to welcome HP Indigo Distribution Operations,” said Hayward Mayor Michael Sweeney. “Considering the strategic location of this facility, HP’s customers will be well served, and the expansion of HP into Hayward is a welcome contribution to the local economy.”
For customers on the West Coast, this milestone lets HP Indigo focus on enhancing on-time shipment, thereby minimizing downtime. Planned initially for spare parts, the facility is expected to handle at least 18,000 outbound orders annually and offers future expansion capabilities.
Reducing delivery times from East Coast distribution centers as well as extending the same-day shipping cut-off time of 2 p.m. PT, the new warehouse enables West Coast customers to place orders for same-day processing until 5 p.m. PT. Customers may also choose to schedule a pick up from the new center, located at 2208 Commerce Place, Hayward, CA 94545.
