Heidelberg to Demonstrate Prinect EFI Interface

KENNESAW, Ga.—Print shops that use Heidelberg’s Prinect Pressroom Manager to control production and manage production data now have the ability to connect with the Pace and Monarch print production and management solutions from EFI.

Heidelberg's Print 09 demonstration will show bidirectional JDF/JMF presets and job costing information between Heidelberg Prepress Manager and Pressroom Manager and the EFI Monarch and EFI Pace systems. Attendees will see how a JDF input from an EFI system can automatically create a Prinect Production job, assign a workflow plan to that job, and fill the job with rich job administrative and production data useful for the Integrated and seamless Prepress, Press, and Postpress production system. Then, as production starts, JMF provides production status milestones to EFI Monarch and EFI Pace, and collects job costing data at job completion.

Prinect is an open system, facilitating the coordinated data exchange using a standardized JDF/JMF interface to industry software systems (MIS) or a CIP4/PPF interface to various prepress workflow systems. Prinect Pressroom Manager is the central management system for the pressroom, making it possible to react rapidly, directly, and flexibly to changing requirements. Prinect Pressroom Manager communicates information intelligently so that print jobs are automatically available at the right press at the right time, substantially increasing productivity. With the use of preset data, makeready times, and waste at the press are significantly reduced.
