VALHALLA, N.Y.—FUJIFILM and Evelop, the project development division of sustainable energy solutions company Econcern, have signed a letter of intent for the development of a corporate wind farm at FUJIFILM's European plate manufacturing operation in Tilburg, the Netherlands.
Once complete, the wind farm will produce between 15,000 and 24,000 megawatt hours of energy per year, enough to provide between 10 and 20 percent of the energy needed to power FUJIFILM's production plant in Tilburg, where the wind farm will be located. The letter of intent marks the start of the project, with the first wind turbines expected to be operational by 2011. This follows an announcement earlier in the year of a $127 million investment in a third plate line at the site, to be completed by January 2010.
