Recyclable Logo for Paperboard

In 2010, an independent study commissioned by the American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) confirmed that paperboard packaging was being collected for recycling in more than 60 percent of all communities in the U.S., exceeding the “recyclable” threshold requirement established by the Federal Trade Commission. Therefore, companies that package a product in paperboard can now legitimately claim that their packaging is recyclable, regardless of whether the package is composed of virgin or recycled paper. In response to this development, PPC has available a royalty-free logo for use on paperboard packaging to indicate that paperboard can—and should—be recycled. Sustainability on the rise

The packaging industry, including folding carton manufacturers, faces additional challenges as we recognize the need to live a more sustainable lifestyle. Paperboard is ideally positioned to take advantage of this trend, since for more than 130 years it has been a renewable, recyclable resource.
