Clondalkin Flexible Packaging Harlingen won the 2015 award for Technical Innovation at the prestigious EFTA-Benelux Flexographic awards, which took place in Antwerp, Belgium recently.
EFTA-Benelux (The European Flexographic Technical Association) is the leading trade association for the flexographic printing industry in the Benelux countries of Belgium, The Netherlands and Luxembourg. These annual awards honor the best innovations on the market and raise the profile of the flexographic printing industry as a whole.
Clondalkin Flexible Packaging Harlingen won the award for its unique FleXtreme printing technology used to create the eye-catching packaging for the Bofrost “Suppengemüse” brand.
"We are delighted to have won this award in recognition of the excellent results we have achieved for our client, Bofrost," Jack van der Heiden, Clondalkin
Flexible Packaging Harlingen's sales and marketing director, said. “FleXtreme, which was developed here at Clondalkin Flexible Packaging Harlingen, represents a new generation in flexo printing that offers print quality comparable with gravure printing, but at a much more competitive cost level. It offers many advantages to customers including shorter production runs, reduced lead times and excellent finished results, including very high ink and color density. The packaging we produced for the Bofrost “Suppengemüse” brand was printed using only CMYK with an overall lacquer to achieve a high intensity of color and excellent quality finish. We achieved this using Sun Passion ink, minimum 54 dpcm screening and 460 line anilox rollers. We would like to thank Bofrost for their courage in allowing us to demonstrate this revolutionary flexo technology and they are equally delighted. We faced tough competition from other finalists to win the award and the judges praised our team’s 'co-operation and craftsmanship to achieve outstanding results.'”
Clondalkin Flexible Packaging Harlingen is part of the Clondalkin Group of companies, which produces innovative packaging solutions for brands around the world.
Clondalkin Flexible Packaging Harlingen was also shortlisted in the ‘Flexo Wide Width' category for its Bavarian Radler packaging and one of the other companies in the group, Clondalkin Flexible Packaging Grootegast, came in second in the ‘Best Technical Innovation’ category for its Wintermallows pointed bag.
