Mark Andy Announces Increasing Demand for Performance Series Press Line
Rosemont, Ill.—A dedicated presentation, "It's Not About Digital - It's About Performance" was showcased live at the Mark Andy booth at Labelexpo Americas 2010, in Chicago. The new Mark Andy Performance Series P5 and P7 models were on display, with the P5 focused on the benefits of using inline flexo for short runs. An interactive print station area which attendees can experience as a hands-on display will also be a highlight for converters.
The new Performance Series has become a popular flexo press line, proving the new design and technology by Mark Andy is making a mark in the printing and converting industry segment. Launched ten months ago, more than 30 Performance Series machines have been sold with presses located in every industrial region including Australia, China, Ireland, England, Sweden, Poland, Venezuela and soon in South Africa. Eighteen presses have already been installed in the United States, running advanced applications from premium wine labels, light cartons and packaging, RFID insertions and unsupported films.
To respond to further demand in differing economies, Mark Andy is planning to further expand the line later this year, introducing the model P3 at Labelexpo India.
The new press line encompasses state-of-the-art flexographic print technology with a uniquely engineered print-head design.
Central to the Performance Series' design for short run printing is its print station/print deck design. A unique plate roll system allows for repeat sizes as small as 5 ½ inches, extensively reducing plate costs. Ink costs are also lowered due to the small amounts required for shorter production runs (as little as 6 oz. ink per station). New web path designs and advanced registration capabilities of the Performance Series can reduce setup waste as much as 60 percent over conventional in-line flexo technologies.
With the fast makeready times, a four-color changeover can be complete in just three minutes. Simple, repeatable settings and limited operator steps for job setup make the Performance Series one of the most operator-friendly presses on the market. These drastic set-up and changeover improvements, reduced cost of operation, and more than 50 percent waste savings, have already proven to deliver profitability for short runs as well as traditionally longer run demand. This platform design challenges the misconception that digital is the only solution for short run.
"The Performance Series marks a milestone for the Mark Andy brand. Our in-depth customer research has resulted in a press design that has proven to meet the true needs of the customer. Our product development team hit the mark and I'm very excited for converters. They have a great new product to take advantage of," stated Paul Brauss, CEO, Mark Andy Inc.
