Fedrigoni Self-Adhesives, part of The Fedrigoni Group, has received certification from the APR (Association for Plastic Recyclers) for RI-MOVE PET products.
APR certification means that plastics using label materials from Fedrigoni Self-Adhesives were subjected to the industrial recycling process. After undergoing the recycling process, the labels were evaluated and certified as compatible with industrial recycling.
According to Terri Brown, technical manager, Fedrigoni Self-Adhesives North America, “Participation in this program sends a clear message of commitment to protecting the environment and meeting our sustainability goals. We are pleased to offer our customers materials that have been proven and certified to recycling standards. This will allow our customers to achieve their long-term sustainability goals.”
RI-MOVE PET’s AR842 adhesive debonds non-recyclable label materials from PET containers - making them recoverable. Debonding occurs when a container is processed utilizing a water temperature of 88 degrees C/190 degrees Fahrenheit or higher with an alkaline solution. This sink/float recycling process cleanly separates the label from the container and PET flakes. The PET fragments, now clean and residue-free, can be used in a PET bottle-to-bottle recycling process.
These products are designed to reduce environmental impacts and contribute to a circular economy through the separation of non-recyclable label materials. When used in combination with PET containers, it provides a more pure recovery through the separation of the label from the container.
RI-MOVE products are recommended for beverage and household applications where the container will pass through its recycling stream and the PET flake process.
The newest RI-MOVE PET offerings include 2.4 mil Clear BOPP / AR842 / 1.2 Clear PET liner and 2 mil Clear BOPP / AR842 / 1.2 Clear PET liner.
These materials are available as a custom coat in master width x 2,500’.
