Slim-line UV Lamp Head
The all-new Lightouch Slim Line Lamp Cassettes feature a new 19-point stepped ellipse reflector design that captures more energy from the back and sides of the UV bulb to deliver 35 percent greater UV energy at the web. The reflectors include a durable, specially engineered coating that is proven to outlast standard anodized coatings, while offering higher gloss and reflectivity to reduce maintenance costs and increase curing power. The side load UV lamp assembly includes an integrated electrical and pneumatic plug that provides fast lamp cassette removal and re-insertion. www.aaapress.com
EccoCure LED Curing
Grafix USA’s EccoCure delivers instant curing of LED inks using a single UV lamp specially tuned to the highly reactive inks’ wavelengths. As a cost-effective entry into UV technology, EccoCure opens up new lines of business in the package printing arena. One UV lamp rated at 300 watts per inch accommodates most process-color print jobs, including jobs printed with thick inks, running at normal press speeds. Located in the delivery of the press, the metal halide-doped lamp eliminates the need for interdeck UV lamps, as well as the standard three-lamp, end-of-press drying system. The lamp is cooled by a combined air and water cooling system. www.grafixonesource.com
LED Curing System
DYMAX Corp. has introduced the BlueWave® LED DX-1000, an LED Light-Curing System designed to provide users with advantages that include cooler curing temperatures, lower intensity degradation over time, more consistent cure results, lower energy consumption, and reduced costs. The system can be configured to operate in either small-area flood or spot-cure mode and uses high-intensity 385 nm LED light to achieve consistent frequency and intensity output for better process control. www.dymax.com
High-Speed UV LED
Air Motion Systems has introduced its all-new XP5 Series LED UV, a powerful UV LED curing system available for drying inks, coatings, and varnishes across offset, flexo, and digital presses. The XP5 power levels are designed to meet the most challenging curing applications in high-speed web offset, large-format and packaging sheetfed offset, narrow-web flexographic label presses, and the next generation of higher production speed inkjet presses. www.airmotionsystems.com
Low-Energy UV
The DryStar LE UV is an entry-level, low-energy UV solution for commercial, light packaging, or specialty printers. It is a scalable system that facilitates entry into the UV market and cures both standard UV and high-reactive UV inks and coatings. DryStar LE UV is available for specialty printing and packaging and comes equipped with special UV reflectors that efficiently reduce the heat transfer to sensitive substrates. A typical configuration incorporates from one to three UV lamps. One lamp can dry up to four UV inks; at least two lamps per machine are needed to cure UV Ink & coatings. www.heidelberg.com
Compact UV Curing
GEW’s VCP System is an advanced, compact, fully air-cooled UV curing system developed for demanding printing applications. The fully modular system includes various options for processing heat-sensitive substrates. It is designed for narrow-web presses up to 17˝; uses the e-Brick energy efficient power supply with dichroic reflectors for increased UV output and excellent temperature control; and is applicable to UV flexo, offset, letterpress, and silk screen printing processes. www.gewuv.com
UV for Labels
IST METZ is focussing on the efficient use of energy in label printing with its new UV system MBS®-6. With the completely redesigned URS® Duo reflector geometry, just one lamp output of 120 W/cm is required to achieve the same drying results as those from lamp outputs up to 200 W/cm. www.ist-uv.com
Shuttered UV Systems
UltraPak® from Aetek UV Systems uses high-performance optics to effectively cure inks, coatings, and adhesives on substrates from 5˝-25˝ in applications including flexography, web offset, gravure, rotary screen, inkjet, and variable data processes. www.americanultraviolet.com
Curing UV Inks/Coatings
The Maxwell® system supplied by XericWeb Drying Systems provides energy-efficient curing of inks, coatings, varnishes, and adhesives on a wide range of substrates including papers, films, foils, paperboards, laminates, and cold foils. Features include: fast curing with less power; quartz dichroic reflector removes excess infrared heat; four lamp power levels; small power supply footprint; and programmable touch pad or display. www.xericweb.com
Flexible Control
The Zone™ UV curing system from PRI Technologies offers variable lamp control and a continuous air management system that eliminates the costs associated with water-cooled systems. It features individually controlled UV lamps allowing for flexibility for various widths and coverages. Each lamp can be independently turned on or off and varied in intensity with the touch of a button. www.printingresearch.com
