Exhibitors and New Products Abound at Labelexpo Americas
Returning to Rosemont, Illinois, September 9-11, the 25th anniversary of Labelexpo Americas remains dedicated to label converters and has been expanded to cover package printing and areas of interest for brand owners.
Innovation is driving the market and as usual, the main draw will be the number of new products being launched and a large array of presses, ancillary products and materials being demonstrated in real time. Here’s a glimpse of just a few of the suppliers with technology worth seeing in Chicago.
Flint Group

Electronic Packaging Solutions from Sun Chemical
Sun Chemical will demonstrate how electronic materials can help make packages and objects communicate, engage consumers, manage inventory systems and provide brand authentication solutions.
T+Sun, in partnership with Sun Chemical, will demonstrate Touchcode, an imbedded code that activates a range of options, including security and web interaction when touched to a smart device.
Epson
Epson (booth 5813) will have its full range of prime, sub-prime and GHS label solutions, as well as a laser finishing unit.
The company is also participating in the Inkjet Trail, which challenges five of the leading inkjet press manufacturers to produce identical label designs allows attendees to collect samples and compare the results for themselves.
Harper QD Flexo Printing Head
Harper (booth 401) will be showing off its new QD Flexo Printing Head is the most recent addition to the QD Multi-Process Flatbed Printing system. This head prints a 6.66" repeat, utilizing Harper’s proofer anilox rolls. The head features a traditional imaged flexo plate, coupled to a plate cylinder with mounting tape. The QD Flexo Printing Head can also be used with Harper’s fiber laser engraved ITR (in-the-round) EDPM transfer roll.
Label Printing from OKI
OKI Data Americas (booth 1245) will be demonstrating its latest contribution in digital color label printing and finishing, specifically for short runs.
The company will be showcasing its new C711DW. The printer can construct full color finished labels on demand, using a digital diecutting and film lamination.at up to 25 ft./min. on paper, polyester, vinyl and adhesive-backed substrates.
Inkjet with INX
INX International (booth 6411) will be displaying narrow web solutions on the Komori NW210 inkjet UV digital narrow web press at speeds up to 80 ft./min. It includes five-color ink channels and has a Spartanics X210 laser diecutting station.
Xeikon 3000 Series
Xeikon (booth 6135) will be showcasing its 3000 Series digital press models, geared toward label and packaging converters. It will also be providing demonstrations of pressure-sensitive label applications including solutions for in-mold labeling and heat transfer applications.
High Definition from Durst
Durst (booth 5901) will have live demonstrations of its Tau 330 UV Inkjet Digital Label press with a high definition print mode and in-line laser finishing systems. The press is also fit for food packaging applications, when using Durst’s Low Migration/Low Odor Inks.
Dow Corning’s Syl-Off Series Expands
Dow Corning (booth 1340) will be showing the Syl-Off SL 35 Release Modifier, the company’s newest controlled release additive technology for low-platinum, solventless systems. This addition to its Syl-Off Advantage Series provides increased production in ultra-flat release systems.
Green UV Curing from AAA Press International
AAA Press (booth 947) will be featuring its latest addition to its line of Lightouch UV curing systems. The Lightouch CurX LED UV Curing Module is a green UV curing solution. Various ink, varnish, cold foil and adhesive partners have utilized it.
Fives Web Guide and Splice Table
Fives North American Guiding Systems (booth 128) will be demonstrating its latest web guide and splice table design. Available for web widths up to 28", it features pneumatically activated web clamps and a strategically located splice tape holder.
Low Migration Ink from Collins Inkjet
In booth 6524 the ink specialist company will be featuring custom, low migration inks for packaging and label usage. A variety of inks are available, including water-based, UV, LED and EB Cure. Labelexpo participants can view how these inks can be used to print single-pass CMYK labels on a web system.
Nilpeter FB-3
Nilpeter (booths 3105 and 3205) will feature its FB-3 UV-flexo press, an eight-color, 13˝ solution providing a high level of servo automation. It allows the Expanded Gamut process to integrate unimpeded into the flexo workflow, allowing for a high level of detail and precision.
Novation ScrapTracker
Novation (booth 6642) will be featuring its ScrapTracker system, a solution to track and report defects in a processed roll. ScrapTracker applies bar-coded flags to moving web and creates roll reports using each flag number, location and the type of defect within a processed roll.
Schober RSM-Digi/VS
Schober (booth 1317) will feature the RSM-Digi/VS, a converting solution that provides converting of digital or conventionally printed film and foil, laminates, coated paper laminates and composite materials.
