Folding Carton Converter Adds Folder/Gluer
COMMACK, N.Y.—Beyer Graphics, a folding carton converter, recently upgraded its capabilities with the addition of a Bobst EXPERTFOLD 110-A2 CS folder/gluer.
Specializing in pharmaceutical and consumer goods packaging, the company has increased its production throughput, running product at speeds up to 1,476 ft./minute. The "A2" configuration of the new folder/gluer gives Beyer the capability to fold more than 3,000 different box styles including a wide range of straight line, crash-lock, and others. The printer can also fold materials ranging from carton board (up to 164 lbs./msf) and N, F, and E micro-flute corrugated board allowing Beyer to offer its customers an expansive range of manufacturing solutions.
The EXPERTFOLD's modular design gives Beyer the ability to reconfigure and expand to meet changing markets and customer/consumer demands. "Eventually we'll be moving into Braille with the addition of an AccuBraille unit directly to the EXPERTFOLD," notes Dan Beyer. "So if we're going in that direction, we felt the precision alignment the Accufeed provides would not only be important for our current work, but also be essential to future growth."

MESA—Trisoft Graphics has added a Kodak APPROVAL XP4 digital color imaging system and Kodak INSITE creative workflow system to its existing line up of Kodak prepress and printing solutions. The proofing and workflow systems allow users to streamline communication and produce more accurate proofs.

The company was looking for a fully integrated information system that would support multiple facilities while offering business processes that specifically fit flexible packaging and printing operations and could improve operational efficiencies, provide better visibility into business performance, and provide agility for change.
KENTUCKY
NEWPORT—Steinhauser, has purchased and installed a Hewlett-Packard Indigo WS6000 Digital Press. The WS6000 offers production of short and medium run lengths that use mixed spot inks and 4-, 6-, or 7-color process simulations. Powered by EskoArtwork, the color kit is designed to provide excellent color matching for the most demanding brand and color requirements for labels and packaging. A servo-driven Digicon Series 2 finishing unit with diecutting, cold foil stamping, or laminating, plus two flexo print stations from ABG International complements the WS6000 and provides additional capabilities for digital print finishing.
MASSACHUSETTS
EVERETT—Quik Stik Label Co. – Xygraphix (QSX Labels) recently purchased and installed an OMET Flexy 10´ wide press. The machine adds additional production capacity and features a combination UV/hot air drying system, hot stamp and cold foil capabilities, interchangeable units for flexo and rotary screen, removable cassettes for fast job changes, and 8-color capability.
NEW YORK
ROCHESTER—Diamond Packaging, a high-end printing and packaging company, recently installed an 8-color Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 105 UV-capable press in a double coating configuration with initial flexo dispersion coater and three modular deliveries. The press joins a pressroom lineup that features a 7-color Speedmaster CD 102 UV press and a 6-color Speedmaster CD 102 UV press with double coater.
