Envi by Monadnock: Guilt-Free Luxury Paperboard
BENNINGTON, N.H.—Monadnock Paper Mills, Inc. announces new Envi by Monadnock, a premium, high quality, line of environmental packaging grades designed for folding boxes, luxury shopping bags, set-up boxes, tubes, price tickets, and hang tags. First to be introduced in the line is Envi Folding Box Board (FBB), an 18 point single-ply uncoated paperboard ideal for packaging applications in fragrance, cosmetics, gourmet food, wine, spirits, and entertainment. Made in a bright white shade and featuring exceptional surface uniformity for remarkable print clarity and fidelity, Envi FBB is made with 80 percent post-consumer waste (PCW), one of the highest recycled content level currently available in the market for single-ply, high-caliper uncoated paperboard.
Envi by Monadnock is proud to bear the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) chain of custody certification under the chip and fiber standard. This guarantees that the fiber contained in Envi is sourced responsibly and can be traced through every link in the supply chain: from the fiber’s point of origin in a responsibly managed forest or a certified recycling center, through paper manufacturing to client delivery. Up to 45 percent of the electricity used to manufacture Envi by Monadnock is generated on site at the paper mill through company-owned, low-impact hydroelectric generators. Low-impact hydro is a form of clean, renewable, green energy.
“I am very pleased to see that Monadnock Paper Mills is joining the ranks of fine paper mills that will be providing folding board stock to the packaging industry,” said John A. Delfausse, vice president, package development, Estee Lauder. “The Envi FBB choice with post consumer recycled content at 80 percent and with FSC certification bring our options to a new level. Their dedication to this type of innovation, with a commitment to the environment is very welcome.”
Monadnock’s nimble manufacturing and expertise in providing customized solutions makes Envi FBB right for environmentally conscious packaging projects. Working with Curtis Packaging of Sandy Hook, Conn. and Curtis’ premier clients, efforts were made to optimize this recycled, 100 percent FSC-certified packaging board. Curtis tested several designs and the result is Envi FBB, a high-strength, bright white paperboard that can be embossed, folded, scored and die-cut with full confidence that a high recycled content packaging material can provide value-added shelf appeal in a sustainable design. “Most of our clients are environmentally sensitive, and they are delighted with the development of Envi FBB,” said Don Droppo, vice president of marketing, Curtis Packaging.
“With a relentless stream of advertising on TV, radio, Internet, and print, breaking through the competitive clutter has never been more difficult for brand holders. Because it makes good business and social sense, they are increasingly choosing to distinguish themselves through the application of sustainable business practices,” says David Lunati, director of marketing for Monadnock. “Envi by Monadnock presents a unique opportunity to satisfy the need for attention-grabbing aesthetics while demonstrating a firm commitment to environmental stewardship in packaging.”
