Electrophotographic printing, a dry printing technique used in xerography and laser printing, is expected to see an increase of 8.78 percent CAGR over the period of 2014 to 2019. A new report from Sandler Research highlights the expected growth, citing the growth in digital printing as the main proponent driving the increase in three key regions: the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and the EMEA. Emerging print markets, including India and China, are seeing a higher adoption rate of digital printing processes than other countries.
According to an analyst quoted in the press release, “[t]he growth in the global digital printing market has significantly affected the labeling and packaging industry over past few years. … Subsequently, digitalization has become a key driver in the printing process, and it has affected the traditional printing process. … The increased adoption of digital printing has led to the development of advanced hybrid printing technology, which includes both digital and conventional printing processes.”
Another trend highlighted by the report is the increase in spending for marketing and packaging, which is directly correlated to a decrease in customer retention, loyalty and the attraction of new customers. A challenge faced by the electrophotography industry is competition from inkjet.
