ECO3 Showcases Package Printing Software at PRINTING United Expo
ECO3, a supplier of prepress solutions, presented a wide range of technologies at its booth at PRINTING United Expo in Atlanta, Georgia. From Oct. 18-20, the company showcased solutions that can help package printers improve operational efficiency and reduce waste and costs.
“In today's market, it's all about automation, it's all about productivity. Yet at the same time sustainability remains very, very important,” said Dave Carey, senior product marketing manager at ECO3’s Carlstadt, New Jersey, location. “It's all about doing more with less and a smaller carbon footprint. We feel that our solutions can help our customers accomplish that.”
For packaging converters, ECO3 highlighted the importance of its Amfortis workflow technology. Designed specifically for packaging converters, Amfortis is an all-in-one prepress software solution that increases efficiency and automation. It can be used for everything from preflighting and stepping and repeating, to proofing and rendering. The software can be utilized in the creation of folded cartons, metal, and corrugated package products.
Additionally, ECO3’s SPIR@L screening technology changes the way ink is laid down on a substrate. Instead of being applied as a dot, ink is applied in a spiraling pattern, which allows an even ink spread, reduces makeready by 50 to 400 sheets, and boasts a 12% incremental ink savings.
The difference in image quality between traditionally applied ink and SPIR@L screen printing can be seen with the naked eye, Carey explained.
“It just looks crisper, cleaner — better image quality is what you'll ultimately see,” he said. “There's a tremendous difference now. With the trained eye, obviously you're picking up very quickly, but at the end of the day, even novices can see differences.”
As far as keeping up with trends in the market, Carey said that these solutions can help printers achieve a lot of their goals.
“You've got all of these elements combined together to create an integrated prepress system that gives you higher productivity, lower costs, and greener outcomes,” he said. “That's what printers are looking for today: Automate, improve productivity, and it better be sustainable at the same time.”
