drupa Exhibitors Show Innovations at PPC’s Technical and Production Forum
SPRINGFIELD, MA—July 5 2012, folding carton plant managers, technical directors, and department leaders attended the Paperboard Packaging Council’s (PPC) annual Technical and Production Forum in Springfield, MA.
During the workshop, attendees shared best practices and learned about such key topics as business automation, fiber certification programs, shipping and freight standards, and boxboard market trends. But the special focus of the workshop was the in-depth overview of the latest technological advancements and innovations that were premiered at this year’s Drupa—the world’s largest print show held every four years in Düsseldorf, Germany.
To kick off the event, PPC president Ben Markens summarized PPC’s May trip to Drupa where 22 PPC members toured the vast convention halls together and attendedmember-sponsored social events. After the presentation, 12 Drupa exhibitors showcased the innovations and advancements that they premiered at Drupa to workshop participants and answered questions about their new products and services.
Finally, the spirited group was treated to traditional German fare at the world-famous Student Prince, a German beer hall located in downtown Springfield, MA. While enjoying brats, goulash, and steins full of delicious German beer, attendees networked and discussed thehighlights of Drupa 2012.
“While we were excited to bring PPC members to Drupa in May, we also felt it was vital to bring what we learned back to the States,” noted Ben Markens. “Attendees were given the remarkable opportunity to learn all about the cutting-edge technological advances in the industry as presented at Drupa, which will serve to inspiresmart purchasing and operational decisions well into the future.”
