Flexo Concepts Moves to Larger Facility
PLYMOUTH, Mass.—Consistent growth over the past several years has led Flexo Concepts (www.flexoconcepts.com) to relocate its manufacturing operation and corporate offices to a larger facility in Plymouth, Mass. The new building provides 30 percent more space and consolidates all aspects of production under one roof.
Growth of the company’s base TruPoint™ doctor blade business, the acquisition of MicroClean™ in 2005, and a new line of press-side cleaning chemicals have contributed to the need for more space. Flexo Concepts recently beefed up staff levels in its sales, engineering, telemarketing, and customer service departments and had been occupying two separate, neighboring buildings since relocating its North Carolina operation to Plymouth last year.
“We have had considerable success with our MicroClean anilox cleaning equipment since acquiring the line five years ago,” says Kevin McLaughlin, president of Flexo Concepts. “The technology is popular with printers looking for effective, automated cleaning without the use of water or chemicals.”
Sales of the company’s consumable lines are also trending up. According to McLaughlin, “While we have long been a dominant player in the U.S. doctor blade market, demand for our TruPoint plastic and composite doctor blades continues to grow overseas, particularly in Asia and South America.” The ReNew™ line of biodegradable cleaning solutions and accessories introduced in 2008 is thriving as well. The company is exploring new markets and continuing to pursue opportunities abroad to sustain the growth.
The move took place over four days in early April with minimal disruption to the company's manufacturing, shipping, and customer service functions. The company shut down operations for only one day as planned, and business as usual resumed on April 12th. According to McLaughlin, “The move went off without a hitch, which reflects the quality and dedication of our entire staff and key vendors.”
