Ben Franklin Press & Label Selects Inkjet Technology

CHICAGO—Epson America announced that Ben Franklin Press & Label Company, an award-winning Napa, Calif.-based converter—most recently winning Best of Show honors in packagePRINTING's 2012 Excellence Awards contest (see the August 2012 issue), has selected the Epson® SurePress® L-4033A to install in its center of operations. Ben Franklin Press & Label will be using the inkjet digital label press to produce high-quality wine labels for numerous wineries.

Huston Patterson Expands Digital Capabilities

DECATUR Ill.—Huston Patterson Corp. has added a Gandy Pred8tor grand-format digital printer to its printing capabilities.

"Our initial offerings will include our large inventory of un-laminated C1S packaging substrates, as well as pre-laminated substrates on B and E flute," says Donald Ellis, Huston Patterson vice president of manufacturing. "We have expanded the available substrates to include foam board, styrene, and other similar substrates. We have upgraded our Kongsberg table and offer short-run diecutting to supplement the new grand-format digital printer."

The Pred8tor is a UV flatbed inkjet digital printer. It will be G7 certified, and color will be managed with the same GMG software used to manage the company's proofers for its offset presses.

Landa to Keynote EFI Connect

FOSTER CITY, Calif.—EFI™ announced that Benny Landa, industry pioneer and chairman and CEO of the Landa Group, will participate in a "fireside chat" Q&A session with EFI CEO Guy Gecht at EFI's 14th annual EFI Connect Users Conference, being held from January 15-18, 2013 at The Wynn Las Vegas. Landa provided much excitement at drupa 2012, where he unveiled Nanography™ and six Landa Nanographic Printing™ Presses, the culmination of a decade of research into nanotechnology.
