FLEXcon Custom Label Media for Roland Printer
IRVINE, Calif.—Roland DGA Corp. and FLEXcon have teamed up to bring users of Roland's VersaUV LEC series of UV-LED wide-format inkjet printer/cutters a specialized pressure-sensitive polypropylene media for labeling applications.
"VersaUV is ideal for short-run label production and now –FLEXcon has tailored its popular FLEXmark® polypropylene label media for the VersaUV's unique dimensions and contour cutting capabilities," said Andrew Oransky, director of product management for Roland DGA Corp. "Roland inkjet printer/cutters print and contour cut designs all on one device, allowing professionals to create labels in any shape through one seamless workflow."
The Roland VersaUV inkjet printer/cutter offers use of CMYK and white inks, along with Clear Coat, which can be layered into unique textures and patterns for embossing and varnishing effects. It allows printing professionals to produce custom short-run labels, as well as unique packaging prototypes on a wide array of substrates.
"We have taken high-quality, pressure-sensitive polypropylene face media and married it to a customized, stay-flat release liner that allows users to diecut and perforate label designs right on the VersaUV without additional finishing equipment," said Rick Harris, product manager of the Product Branding Business Team for –FLEXcon. "FLEXmark® polypropylene images well in a variety of print modes to create labels with beautiful effects, such as embossing and printing with white inks."
INX Int'l. Supports Digital Transition

Color-Logic Goes Digital
WEST CHESTER, Ohio—Color-Logic has released two new –versions of its Color-Logic Process Metallic Printing System to support digital technologies. One version enables licensed printers to produce striking metallic effects using inkjet technology, while a second digital version enables licensed printers to use certain digital presses produced by HP Indigo and Xeikon.
Announcing the new inkjet version, Color-Logic Director of Sales and Marketing Mark Geeves commented: "The inkjet version of our popular metallic color printing system has been tested extensively and produces outstanding results on wide-format printers manufactured by Epson, Roland, and Mimaki, as well as flatbed printers manufactured by EFI VUTEk, AGFA, and Fujifilm. The process is particularly effective when used on machines capable of printing on metallic substrate and running white inks."
For the digital version, Geeves goes on to report that it has been tested extensively by several digital printers and has produced outstanding results on labels, folding cartons, and collateral literature printed digitally on several different press models. "HP Indigo and Xeikon users with industrial machines capable of 5-color printing (white plus CMYK) and running metallic substrate can utilize the Color-Logic process to produce as many as 250 different metallic hues," he says. pP
