More than 50 international companies from the corrugated industry were present at the event held in Barberán's facilities in Castelldefels, Barcelona, Spain from Oct. 26-27.
Barberán introduced the latest six-color (CMYK+Orange & Violet) Jetmaster 1890, a unique industrial solution in digital single-pass for the corrugated industry.
The attendees had the opportunity to see the high speed (over 6,500 sq. m./hr.) and the outstanding quality of Barberán Jetmaster printers.
Live demonstrations were held on corrugated sheets measuring 1.89 m. wide and featured double feeding with a different design on each sheet.
Ink manufacturers including Toyo Inks and CHIMIGRAF talked about UV inks, low migration and indirect food contact, and there was a presentation about the impact of digital into a corrugating plant presented by Hinojosa Group.
The acquired experience with gravure and flexographic printers for the last 40 years in the wood industry allowed Barberán to make the leap in 2007 to industrial digital printing. After having supplied several production lines in the wood and PVC industry, in 2013 the first complete production line to the corrugated industry was supplied to Hinojosa. This was followed in 2014 by Smurfit Kappa and in 2015 by Bennett Packaging in the United States, Abbe Corrugated from Australia, Ondapack Sud from Italy and four more lines scheduled to be installed before next spring.
