MTorres and Davis-Standard Announce Exclusive Agreement
FULTON, N.Y.—Converting machinery leaders MTorres and Davis-Standard, LLC have joined together to offer customers in North, South and Latin America a more cohesive offering of equipment for paper and board extrusion coating applications. Under the joint agreement signed recently, Davis-Standard will be the exclusive distributor of MTorres zero splice unwinding systems to customers throughout the Americas. The agreement merges the advantages of MTorres’ zero splice technology with Davis-Standard’s expertise in extrusion and lamination applications.
“Our companies have a successful history of working together over the past 20 years,” said Hassan Helmy, Executive Vice President of Davis-Standard, LLC. “There are many MTorres zero speed unwinders on Davis-Standard paper and board extrusion coating lines. Our technologies work well together, and will provide the paper converting industry in North, South and Latin America with a more complete equipment package.”
MTorres is recognized as a worldwide specialist in controlling the web tension in automatic splicing unwinds. Since 1975, the company has designed, produced and installed splicers, roll stands and paper roll transport systems for sectors such as corrugated, sheet cutters, printing, laminators, liquid packaging, tissue, plasterboard and others within the paper converting industries. Zero speed splice unwinders offer advantages such as reduced scrap, more efficient operation, improved splicing efficiencies, and greater machine uptime compared to conventional flying splice unwinders. This is particularly the case when used on high-speed paper and board extrusion coating lines. Unwinders are available in sizes ranging up to 180-inch (4,500 mm) web widths, in speeds ranging up to 3,300 fpm (1,006 mpm) and roll dimensions up to 140 inches (3,500 mm) in diameter with weights up to 9.5 metric tons (20,000 pounds).
According to R. Joseph Gotshall, U.S. Manager of MTorres’ Converting Division, “Working with Davis-Standard has always been rewarding as we have jointly solved new technical challenges. Our relationship and ever-increasing collaboration benefit the extrusion and lamination market with greater technical and business integration.”
