Colbert Packaging Receives SFI and FSC Certifications
ELKHART, Ind.—Colbert Packaging Corporation, a manufacturer of folding cartons, rigid paper boxes, and paperboard specialty products, has received Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) Chain of Custody Certification from NSF-ISR and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain of Custody Certification from Scientific Certification Systems (SCS). NSF-ISR and SCS are accredited by SFI and FSC, respectively, to certify companies to their international standards. Both certifications encompass Colbert operations in Lake Forest, Ill. and Elkhart, Ind., certifying three facilities for meeting tracking requirements to ensure that certified paperboard used in these facilities comes from a well-managed forest. The certifications are a key component of Colbert’s sustainability goals. Colbert Packaging typically uses virgin solid bleached sulfate paperboard derived from these responsibly managed forests to manufacture “green” paperboard-based packaging products for its customers.
