Package Printer Enhances New Facility
DALLAS—KBA North America has announced that Cartamundi, a commercial packaging printer, has installed a new customized 41˝ KBA Rapida 105 five-over-five sheetfed perfector press with full UV capabilities, coating, and board kit at its new facility here.
Cartamundi placed the order for the new KBA Rapida 105 perfector press because KBA could fulfill its specialized manufacturing needs. Cartamundi prints daily on a variety of substrates, which in addition to paperboard include: APET, RPET, PET, PVC, PP, HDPE, cellulose acetate, styrene, foils, and foil laminates.
The unit provides high-quality printing on two sides for increased productivity, extreme efficiency with inline color controls and total automation, and optimal inline finishing. It also offers all processes in fewer steps, higher production due to its one-pass configuration, more consistency, and measureable quality using KBA's premier automated technology tools.
For more than 200 years, Cartamundi has been a worldwide leader in quality card products for casinos and the general public. Its manufacturing facilities, international branches, local agents, and distributors are represented in more than 50 countries. In the U.S., the company recently moved into a 300,000 sq. ft. facility. "The new KBA Rapida 105 41-inch 10-color full-UV perfecting press with multiple coaters is an extremely efficient addition to our pressroom. It has dramatically expanded our print offerings and improved overall workflow here in Dallas," says Steve Young, CEO of Cartamundi's U.S operations.
