The Sonoco Institute of Packaging Design and Graphics will be educating students with brand new equipment this Spring, thanks to a full donation by the International Corrugated Packaging Foundation (ICPF). The new high production Zünd Digital Cutter G3 L-3200 replaces previous equipment used in their Prototyping Lab.
ICPF President, Caitlin Salaverria said, “ICPF was delighted to step up and secure this much needed equipment for coursework, student projects and to enable participation in many packaging competitions. The digital cutter will produce cutting-edge prototype productions for Clemson students from multiple programs, including packaging science, graphic communications, computer science, architecture, and engineering. With the diverse and varied job opportunities available in the corrugated packaging industry, the donation allows expanded knowledge and increased exposure for students pursuing various degrees, helping us with our mission to grow the labor force of the corrugated packaging industry.”
Clemson University Packaging Program Director, Dr. Greg Batt said, "One of our greatest strengths is educating industry ready graduates and our partnership with ICPF enables us to better equip the next generation of top graduates. This generous equipment donation by ICPF puts a state-of-the-art sample cutter in the hands of 520 undergraduate students through 20 classes that we teach in package design and graphics on a yearly basis. These students will compete in the classroom and in numerous national design competitions in packaging design and graphics and will take these skills right into the companies they will work for. Thank you ICPF!"
“As an industry sponsored foundation, ICPF has worked for the last 30 years to advance student and faculty knowledge of the industry and to promote development of a highly trained workforce. We’ve provided over $13 million in donations of equipment and grants to universities and look forward to expanding our efforts over the coming years,” said Salaverria.
