BST Pro Mark Donates New Inspection System to Ditrolio Flexographic Institute
ELMHURST, Ill.—BST Pro Mark has donated a new Powerscope 3000 video web inspection system to the Ditrolio Flexographic Institute, which has been installed on its 13˝ six-color Profiteer press at DFI’s facility in Broadview, Ill.
The donated inspection system features a compact camera with a 4˝ x 3˝ image size and 40x magnification, which, according to Vince Ditrolio, president of DFI, “allows us to use it both as an inspection system and as a real time teaching device. We can magnify and freeze images of the actual print at any time using the Powerscope, and then spend time with the students explaining causes, effects and corrective actions. It is just as powerful a teaching tool as an inspection tool.” Vince Ditrolio uses the BST Powerscope as both a teaching device and a print and quality inspection system.
The powerscope system at DFI also is configured with dual monitors, allowing operators to easily see images of their printed product at both ends of the press. It also has dual control panels, so that all the system functions, such as camera movement and image magnification, can be controlled and operated from two press side locations. Ditrolio added, “BST Pro Mark did a super job on the configuration of this system. The extra added components add tremendousely to overall system functionality and I am sure to ROI for a printer.”
John Thome, general manager of BST Pro Mark, said, “Flexo training facilities such as DFI play a vital role in our industry. BST Pro Mark is grateful to be able to give back in some small but meaningful way, through our support.”
