Bobst Presented Latest Innovations for Corrugated Industry at SuperCorrExpo
ATLANTA—October 9, 2012—At SuperCorrExpo 2012, Bobst North America presented our latest innovations and technology for the corrugated industry including printing, folding and gluing, platen and rotary diecutting, laminating, material handling and much more. This was also the first opportunity for Bobst in North America to showcase the uniform branding previously unveiled at Drupa in May.
Technical experts and product specialists from Bobst were on hand to discuss in detail our latest high-performance offerings and provide insight to future technologies and trends. Our latest innovation that debuted in June of this year, the BREAKER FLAT TRACK is a compact form which optimizes production floor space without reducing the productivity of conversion lines. Safely transporting and arranging bundles of blanks as small as 5.9x5.9˝ FLAT TRACK sets new standards for ergonomics and versatility, offering users the ability to maximize the performance per square meter of floor space of both new and existing lines.
Another Bobst innovation is our new sheet alignment system in litho-laminating, which uses two heads with nip rollers and electronic sensors to achieve a progressive sheet alignment without mechanical stop avoiding any product marking. For Bobst Flexo Folder-Gluers, 50” or 37,” the Bobst Multifold System brings a large productivity improvement. The Multifold System optimizes the flexo folder-gluer by enabling it to produce two or even three ups depending on the dimension of the blank size. This can double or even triple productivity.
In the area of specialty folder-gluers, with the Bobst GYROBOX, users can produce highly complicated boxes efficiently and with healthy margins. On a regular specialty folder-gluer one can only fold a box sideways; however, the Bobst GYROBOX can fold boxes sideways, then pivot them by 90° and finally fold the boxes in the crosswise direction.
For “Amazon” boxes, where glue, silicon band, and tear tape application are applied crosswise, it was only possible to produce those boxes in two passes or with a so called right angle machine. However, with the Bobst GYROBOX, this can now be completed in one pass! No solution exists in the industry to efficiently produce the boxes mentioned before and two U.S. patents have been granted recognizing the innovation. Opening up completely new avenues in box designs untouched before, converters equipped with Bobst GYROBOX will be able to switch from a cost leadership strategy to a differentiation strategy.
Booth visitors were also able to explore the extensive range of service products on offer from Bobst. Ecology, economy, innovation and user friendliness are key issues that Bobst’s Business Unit: Services addresses when producing new products for existing machinery. As an example, Carbon Fiber Chamber for Bobst flexo printers is easy to clean, 66 percent lighter, and three times stiffer than previous models, while also offering a 15 year warranty against corrosion.
Also available for Bobst flexo printers is a new peristaltic ink pump which delivers ink savings of up to 2 kg per job changeover, per print unit, and therefore helps print companies with both their costs and their environmental improvement agendas. Many visitors were able to see the new Bobst app for smart phones and tablets that remotely monitors machines and displays key production data. Providing information 24/7, this new app is a breakthrough in tracking problems as and when they occur.
With a wide range of machinery sizes (from small- to large-formats) and extensive capabilities, Bobst equipment, along with our service and training solutions for corrugated packaging benefit the productivity, efficiency and profitability of your converting operations.
