All Printing Resources (APR) has introduced FlexoAcademy, a new training program for the printing industry.
In today's fast-paced business landscape, finding the time and resources for employee training has become increasingly challenging. Recognizing this need, APR is proud to announce its innovative virtual training program designed specifically for the printing industry. With a focus on flexibility, collaboration, and comprehensive learning, FlexoAcademy is set to transform how companies train their workforce.
"Our goal is to create a training environment that fosters collaboration and empowers individuals to think beyond their immediate roles," said Catherine Haynes, VP of Strategic Initiatives for APR and lead developer of the FlexoAcademy program. "By leveraging the familiar features of collaborative platforms, we aim to cultivate a sense of belonging and participation, particularly among the younger generation, who are accustomed to social media-like interactions."
Traditionally, businesses have struggled to allocate resources and time for employee training. The shortage of skilled personnel and the ever-increasing demands of a busy, overloaded workforce have made sending employees off-site for training even harder. Furthermore, the lack of organized training options and concerns about the quality of trainers have hindered companies' ability to provide consistent and effective learning experiences.
FlexoAcademy addresses these challenges head-on by leveraging the power of online training. The virtual platform ensures consistency in content delivery and accessibility, freeing employees from the constraints of rigid schedules. Now, individuals can access training materials without disrupting their daily responsibilities.
One of the standout features of FlexoAcademy is its emphasis on collaboration and interactive communication. Through the platform, employees can engage with one another, share experiences, and ask questions. The incorporation of thought-provoking exercises challenges participants to think critically, encouraging them to consider the broader impact of their work on the company, industry, and the people they interact with regularly.
John Borrelli, COO of Luminer Premium Packaging and Labels recently utilized the FlexoAcademy to train new press operators and shared, “We've found the FlexoAcademy Training Program to be an invaluable asset, particularly for those new to the world of flexographic printing. Its comprehensive approach to training is exceptional, especially for individuals who are mechanically inclined but unfamiliar with the intricacies of a flexo press.
The program addresses a critical need in our industry – freeing up our key operators. In the fast-paced environment of our press rooms, our top operators are integral to our productivity, and they simply can't spare the time to train newcomers in the basics of printing. FlexoAcademy fills this gap by teaching the essential terminology and mechanics of the printing process, from the infeed nip through to the print stations. It allows new employees to virtually explore and understand each part of a print station in detail.
We first implemented this program with two new hires, one completely new to flexographic printing and the other with some offset printing background. The difference it made was clear – they quickly gained a solid understanding of our equipment and processes. The program has lightened the load on our operators and schedule by covering the fundamental training, allowing our skilled operators to focus on their core responsibilities.
Also, FlexoAcademy isn’t just for our production floor staff. It’s a boon for our customer service team as well, who will be the next to undergo the program. It’s vital for them to have a thorough understanding of each aspect of the printing process to better serve our clients. The opportunities FlexoAcademy offers to a label converter like us are immense and transformative. It's not just a training program; it's a strategic tool that enhances our entire operation and paves the way for continued excellence and growth in our industry."
FlexoAcademy training programs are offered in three ways. Participants can choose from an entirely online course, a blended learning approach combining online modules and instructor-led sessions. This flexibility ensures that each participant can find the most suitable learning experience.
APR is determined to ensure FlexoAcademy training is both accessible and cost-effective. In addition, the FlexoAcademy program has been approved for the TLMI scholarship program, providing converters with an opportunity to offset training costs and further encourage professional development within the industry.
