acpo Earns L.I.F.E. Certification
OAK HARBOR, OH—November 13, 2014—acpo, ltd., a manufacturer of self-wound overlaminates, has earned the L.I.F.E certification from TLMI (Tag and Label Manufacturers Institute). Project L.I.F.E. (Label Initiative for the Environment) provides auditable metrics focusing on the reduction of a company’s environmental footprint.
“We are pleased to join those companies previously committed to sustainability,” says Jack Mitchell, director of sales and marketing at acpo, ltd. “acpo has already made a commitment to ecologically-sound processes that minimize negative environmental impacts. Project L.I.F.E. will help acpo elevate the environmental consciousness of our company, and we will utilize this tool as another component in our continuous improvement efforts.”
The L.I.F.E scorecard and auditing process covers 31 metrics in four categories: clean production techniques, energy and greenhouse gasses, product design and management practices. The assessment was performed over two days by NSF International, an accredited third party certification company. TLMI’s goal in creating the L.I.F.E. Program was to offer an audited certification process tailored specifically to the narrow web printing and converting industry. Examples of elements that companies address when undergoing the L.I.F.E. certification process include the recyclability of adhesives, the source and destination of liner materials and how narrow web companies are driving recycling programs for these materials, and material construction light-weighting (adopting thinner constructions that generate less waste).
