UV Coating Application
BRYAN, Ohio—Anderson & Vreeland (A&V) demonstrated the expanded the capabilities of OKI Data Americas' proColor™ Series with a UV coating application at FTA's INFO*FLEX 2011. The combination of the OKI pro510DW Digital Color Web's ability to produce fast, customized continuous web printing with Kompac Technologies' EZ Koat UV coating applicator further expands the printer's usefulness within the flexographic industry. By using the pro510DW in conjunction with the additional UV coating provided through the use of EZ Koat Web 15 provides rub, fade, water, and scratch-resistance to printed materials.

Hybrid UV-LED Inkjet Printer
IRVINE, Calif.—Roland DGA Corp. introduced the 64-inch VersaUV LEJ-640 UV-LED wide-format hybrid inkjet printer. It prints CMYK, white, and clear on virtually any substrate from roll media to 1/2˝ thick board stocks for premium custom graphics with special effects and finishes. It accommodates both roll-fed and flat media substrates and comes equipped with a built-in sensor that ensures proper print head positioning. The advanced media handling systems enable high-quality results on papers, films, vinyl, PET, leathers, plastics, polycarbonates, and a wide range of board stocks. Safe-to-use UV-LED lamps are energy efficient and require no warm up time. The LEJ-640 features a high-quality, artistic print mode (1440 x 1440 dpi) for images that rival offset and flexographic print quality.
Heidelberg Adds Inkjet Printing Solutions
Heidelberg presented a comprehensive range of products designed for digital UV inkjet printing at interpack 2011. The printing solutions supplied by the company's Linoprint business area are part of the new Heidelberg digital printing portfolio designed for cost-effective production of short print runs and individualized print products. Heidelberg showed how folding carton boxes produced in offset can be individualized using UV inkjet technology. Consumer goods, packaging, and bottling companies benefit from solutions that enable individual branding and labeling with a choice of substrate options.
"UV inkjet printing is rapidly gaining importance thanks to its versatility in the choice of substrates and the fact that it can be directly integrated into packaging production lines," said Stephan Plenz, member of the Heidelberg Management Board, responsible for Equipment.
Technicote expands digital label portfolio
MIAMISBURG, Ohio—Technicote, a manufacturer of pressure sensitive adhesive rolls for the label industry, has expanded its portfolio of digital label products that are HP 3-Star Certified to run on HP Indigo presses. For all its label products used with HP Indigo digital presses, Technicote offers its Dry Edge adhesive coating process that creates a 1/8˝ dry edge on each side of the roll label that can significantly reduce the potential for adhesive build up on-press. The company's digital film and paper substrates are used on applications such as wines and spirits, specialty foods, nutraceuticals, health and beauty products, medical, and durable goods. pP
