When your business is only 25 miles from Hollywood, it makes sense to work in some award show-esque glitz and glamor for your own important occasions. That’s what Janak Patel did when he oversaw a recent open house at his firm, Ultimate Paper Box, and its sister business, Ultimate Flex. The City of Industry, Calif.-based packaging firm lit up the night to celebrate its continued growth, additional capabilities, and expanded facility. Its sponsors, which included KBA North America, BOBST, Prisco, Anderson & Vreeland, RM Machinery, International Paper, and Windmoeller & Hoelscher, joined in Ultimate’s celebration.
More than 300 guests gathered in early August to enjoy an evening of food, music and fun in addition to seeing the latest achievements in printing applications for both offset and flexo packaging containers. Drones buzzed overhead recording the new triple-sized space of the facility, growing from 40,000 sq. ft. to 120,000 sq. ft. Small groups of five to eight people were escorted along a classy red carpet to see private demonstrations of Ultimate’s capabilities, including its seven-color, 57˝ KBA Rapida 145 with UV and six color, 64˝ KBA Rapida 162a presses, its six-color plus coater, 41˝ RM Machinery RMGT 10 series press, its BOBST Expercut 145 PER and Novacut 106 ER diecutters as well as its 10-color, 52˝ Windmoeller & Hoelscher Miraflex AM flexographic press. Then the live music began and delicious Asian, Indian, and American food was served. To top off the evening, Ultimate unleashed a unique Project Runway-style fashion show on a catwalk stage with beautiful models wearing one-of-a-kind clothes made from Ultimate’s own paper packaging materials.
“Our open house was a tremendous success,” says Patel, owner of the firm. “It gave us the opportunity to display our broad portfolio of services and meet one-on-one with all of our guests. This unique event was a testimonial to our robust and growing business.”
Patel also honored the various vendors who have contributed to Ultimate’s success and the open house. “We’re proud to be a partner with Ultimate Paper Box,” says Mark Hischar, president and CEO of KBA North America. “It’s been very rewarding to see how quickly the company has grown since we installed one of their very first presses in July 2008. As they’ve attracted new customers and markets, they’ve continued to invest and add larger presses to accommodate the needs of their customers.”
At the end of the night, guests left with goodie bags that included a premium chocolate box produced on the BOBST diecutters at Ultimate.
The open house also drew a variety of Ultimate’s valued customers. “Ultimate Flex / Paper has been our vendor for about the last 10 years and are truly the finest packaging facility in the U.S.,” says Greg B. Tomey, president and CEO of Sequoia Packaging. “It’s not just their capabilities to produce great packaging but the people that work for them. The open house was way beyond our expectations. With the new flex plant and all the latest machinery available we look forward to many years of business and friendship with Ultimate.”
A well-respected manufacturer of folding cartons and litho labels, Ultimate Paper Box was established in 1995 by Patel. The company added a second company, Ultimate Flex, in 2013 to serve the flexible packaging market. The two companies employ 130 people.
